Renkum’s natural basin under construction

In the olde days, when I worked for the Dutch Governmental Service for Rural Landscapes (Dienst Landelijk Gebied), I worked on the design of the natural basin of the Renkum’s stream (Renkums Beekdal). I visited the project again on the 7th of June 2014 and I’m pleased to see the great result. Although the many weeds still have to make way for the planned forest, the site is already informally used by people. Children play in the streams (just the way we planned it), and on the art works in the former factory wall (not quite how we planned it), but they seem to enjoy themselves which puts a smile on my face. I’m also pretty pleased with the mahoosive flight of stairs I’ve designed; it seems to be floating on the slope.
